Obituary for Michael Weldon Viar

Michael Weldon Viar, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord, Saturday Morning, August 24th, 2019, at the age of 63. Mike was born and raised in Oklahoma County on April 23rd, 1956 to late George Weldon and Pat Ann Viar. He was a 1974 graduate of Grant High School in Oklahoma City. He grew up having a passion for fishing, bowling and playing pool. He married his angel of 38 years, Vicky Sue “Pierce” on October 17, 1980. Mike worked as a Production Equipment Operator for a corrugated box company for 31 years where he worked with excellence in every way. He also had a tree trimming business where he took much pride in his work. Mike had a contagious child-like passion for God and people. He was nick named, “Preacher Man” from his constant joy in vibrantly talking about his relationship with God to anyone he met. He never met a stranger and he constantly was looking to meet people’s needs. His life shouted from the roof tops, “Never Give Up On Your Dreams!” His dream was accomplished and will continue to be a Legacy he leaves to countless others. Mike and his wife began and has overseen the Hunger Relief Ministry through the OKC Dream Center at Inner City Church in Oklahoma City for over 12 years. They have changed the lives of thousands. They trained people in need to be the volunteers to run a thriving family outreach to the community feeding around 200 families per month. The community has said, “they make us feel like we are a part of the family here and not just another number.” Mike was preceded in death by his dad, George Weldon Viar.
Mike is survived by his wife Vicky Sue “Pierce”, his two daughters and two son n laws, Ashley Sprinkle and husband Alec Sprinkle, Whitney Huskey and husband Billy “Darrell” Huskey Jr.; grandchildren Katelyn Sprinkle, Cason Sprinkle and Audriahna Huskey. Mom Pat Viar, Sister Janis Berryman and husband Al Berryman. Nieces Megan and Marina Berryman. Mike’s family will receive family and friends at the viewing Tuesday, August 27th from 2:00-7:00pm at McNeil’s Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm., Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 at Inner City Church with Pastor Deb Burke officiating. Grave Side Service will follow at Mustang Cemetery.
