Obituary for Lauren Kacie Pendelton

Lauren Kacie Pendleton, age 33, was set free from her earthly body on Sunday, November 4, 2018, after bravely fighting illness for nearly 13 years. She was born March 11, 1985, in Oklahoma City, OK to Kevin and Debbie (Jordan) Hensley. Lauren attended 3rd-9th grades in Poteau, OK, where she was active in soccer, softball, basketball and cheerleading. She graduated from Yukon High School in 2003, where she volunteered her time helping handicapped classmates prepare for graduation. Lauren worked in hotel industry guest relations. She had a passion for writing and considered a career in Journalism, winning creative writing and poetry awards beginning at nine years of age.
Her hobbies included creative writing, poetry, promoting new Christian bands, attending concerts with her mother, brother and friends, and caring for her many pets throughout her life. More than once Lauren risked life & limb to rescue an animal in distress. She loved people, never met a stranger and was known for her huge smile as well as her huge heart. She attended Sugar Loaf Church in Poteau, Calvary Christian Fellowship, OKC and Church of the Harvest, OKC. As a teen she loved traveling to Cornerstone Festival in Illinois each summer with her friends. Through all her many hospital stays, surgeries, pain and uncertainty, Lauren still managed to keep that beautiful smile and fighting spirit. Numerous people, worldwide and from all walks of life, have said Lauren was their inspiration and taught them to never give up during illness and hard times.
Lauren is survived by her mother, Debbie Hall, and brother, Michael Hensley, of Yukon, OK, grandparents Jack and Barbara Nelson of Yukon, OK, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and one niece, Lilly Hensley, of Citrus Heights, CA. Lauren will be missed by a multitude of friends, including life-long friends Sandra Ehrnstrom, Johnny Campbell, Jodie Bradshaw and special family friend Larry Irby. Lauren was preceded in death by her father, Kevin Hensley, grandfather, Curley Jordan, great-grandparents, Willard and Hattie Sartin and Emmett and Mae Jordan. A Celebration of Lauren’s life will be held in the Chapel at McNeil’s Funeral Home, 525 W. State Highway 152, Mustang, OK at 2pm, Friday, November 9th, 2018. Viewing and visitation for family is 10am-1pm Thursday, with public viewing Thursday from 1-8pm. Online condolences may be made at www.mcneilsmustangfs.com.
Lauren’s family wishes to express their gratitude to all who faithfully prayed for and visited Lauren during these difficult years. You brought much joy to her life.
