Obituary for Garold Anthony Shidell

Garold (Gary) Anthony Shidell, Jr., age 87 passed away April 27, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on January 26, 1932 in Tulsa, OK to Garold A. Sr. and Elsie (Grimes) Shidell. He attended the University of Oklahoma and later served in the U.S. Air force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Mustang Christian Church and American Legion Post 353. Gary was a production engineer in the oil field, but then switched careers, working as purchasing agent for two different truck and trailer manufacturers. He spent the next few years until his retirement serving as Director of Canadian County Emergency Management. During his working years, he also served in various volunteer capacities for the City of Mustang, with the most time spent in Emergency Management. He accumulated a total of 45 years volunteering for the city. He leaves behind to cherish his memory Lela, his wife of 62 years, and three children: a daughter, Dr. Sherrie Hodgson (husband Bill); two sons, Andy Shidell (wife Linda), and Shaun Shidell (wife Lori). Nine grandchildren: Joseph, Laurelin, Lucas, Sara, Katie, Skylar, Eva, Caleb, Connor, and one great-grandchild-to-be whose anticipated arrival is August. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends. Services to honor Gary Shidell will be held Friday, May 03, 2019 at 2.00 pm at McNeil’s Funeral Home in Mustang, OK.
