Obituary for Robert Paul Howard

Daddy took Mommas hand as he walked through the pearly gates of heaven April 14, 2019 , at 10:33 am. January 4, 1934 found John Oscar and Sarah Frances Dillon Howard adding a baby boy to their family. Welcoming him were six brothers and 4 sisters. Robert worked for Jackson Perkins Trucking after graduating from Walters High School. He came home one weekend to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Howard. Grandpa told him about a weiner roast that the MYF was having down on the creek. Well, you know Daddy, food, and he was there. Not only did he find food but a pretty young lady named Carelene Barnett. I guess Momma really made an impression, cause it wasn’t long before Daddy asked her to change her last name to Howard. She must’ve thought it was a good idea, they married on June 6, 1952. Daddy and Papaw Barnett heard of work in the West Texas oilfield, so off to Andrews they went. Daddy worked as a roustabout, a roughneck, and welder before going to work for Pure Oil Co in a gasoline plant. He was employed with Pure until they merged with Unocal where he worked his way up to “Safety and Environmental Coordinator.” He retired from Unocal and started a new career that he absolutely loved. Fishing!!!!!!! In his spare time from his new busy career he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing gospel music. He was an avid fan of Thunder Basketball and Texas Ranger Baseball, and any sport or activity that the Grandkids were participating in. Daddy was preceded in death by his fishing partner, Momma, Carelene Howard, his parents, 6 brothers and 5 sisters, a son in law, Chet Judkins, grandson in law, James Croisant, great grandson, Austin Spruce. He is survived by daughter Diantha Judkins and partner Monty Montgomery, son, Renard Howard and spouse Christine, 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great grandchildren, one brother and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends.
