Obituary for Richard George Armstrong

Richard Armstrong, 81, was born July 8, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa, and went to be with our Lord on December 9, 2018. Richard proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. Richard had a strong work ethic which included many jobs, such as a sanitation worker for the city of Des Moines, Iowa, an apartment manager, taxi driver, Rock Island Railroad Engineer, and the job that brought him to Oklahoma, the Santa Fe Railroad, where he retired as an Engineer in 1999.
His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, Pat, his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard was loved by many and his Railroad buddies lovingly referred to him as “Dick Armstrong.” Richard believed in working hard, being honest, and always putting forth your best effort. He ensured these values were passed on to his children.
Richard Armstrong is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat; daughters, Susan of Oklahoma, Corrine of Texas; and sons Billy and Sam of Iowa; eight grandchildren, Dustin, Christopher, Chad, Billy, Samantha, Amanda, Jennifer, and Jamie; and eight great grandchildren.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother, June Trent, stepfather Bud Trent, father, George Armstrong, a baby brother, son, Craig Clemens, and son-in-law Kenny Eldredge.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 17, 2018, at Hope Connection Church, 8309 S Santa Fe, Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Wounded Warriors Foundation.
