Obituary for Marjorie Mae Rice

Celebration of Life Service for Marjorie Mae (Odle) Rice, 69, are scheduled for Friday, August 24, at 10:00am at the Clear Springs Free Will Baptist Church, Mustang, with Pastor Dustin Gardner officiating and Pastor Jim Harris assisting. Services are under the care of McNeil Funeral Service, Mustang, OK. Marjorie was born on February 18, 1949, in Kansas City, KS to Charles J. and the late Clariece (Clifton) Christian. She went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 21, at her Oklahoma City residence. She was raised in the McAlester, OK area. She graduated McAlester High School in 1967. From there she attended Oklahoma Bible College in Moore, OK, now Randall University. She then returned home to attend and graduate from Beauty College, in McAlester, OK. She married the love of her life Jerry Leon Rice on August 4, 1972, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester, OK. They lived in the OKC area for the first year and a half and then moved and spent most of their marriage in the Mustang area. She worked as a beauty operator at Bobbies Beauty Salon for over 40years. She helped establish Clear Springs Free Will Baptist Church and served over 50years as a Junior Sunday School teacher. She was also the past president of the Mustang Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department, “Sparkettes” and Woman of the Year, 1987, for the Mustang Fire Department and Oklahoma State Association. Preceding her in death are; her mother Clariece, and her grandparents Clarence and Goldie Clifton, mother and father-in-law Beatrice and Leon Rice, a nephew Christopher Odle, and brother-in-law Don Adams. Marjorie is survived by her husband Jerry, of the home; father, Charles Christian of McAlester, OK; daughters Jodi Gardner and husband Dustin of OKC, Marissa Davis and husband Marvin of Mustang; grandchildren, Braylee and Emalee Gardner, and Gabriel and Madison Davis; sister Nancy Weddle and husband Don of Tulsa, OK; brother Paul Odle and wife Joyce of Olathe,KS; sister-in-law Linda Skinner and husband Garry of Poteau, OK; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Also, her two fur babies Maisy and Missy, whom she loved so much.
