Obituary for Levon Harry Humphrey

Levon Harry Humphrey, lover of Fords, gospel music, country living, and Braum’s ice cream (preferably vanilla), went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, April 7, 2019. Born in 1948 to William Edward and Arlene (Bartling) Humphrey, he attended Hazel Dell Schools in his early years and graduated from Minco High School in 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Rowdy Jake Gray, and his loving wife, Judy Kay (Oravetz) Humphrey.
Levon started his career as a mechanic at Dub Richardson Ford shortly after high school. While at Dub Richardson, he never met an engine he couldn’t fix but he did meet a feisty red head who would steal his heart. He and Judy married on August 10, 1973 and were inseparable until her death in 2011. He once owned his own business, Humphrey’s Garage in Minco and later finished his career at Tinker Air Force Base.
During his 70 years on Earth, he was a man of strong faith. Levon was a lifelong member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church and loved witnessing, bringing others closer to Christ.
Even on his darkest day, a visit from his grandchildren could lift his spirits. He will lovingly be remembered by his daughters and family: Rodney and Gayla Gray of Hinton, Matt and Jan Guinn of Mustang, Jill Warren of Mustang and Blake Hightower of Prague; Grandchildren Taylor Gray, Riley Webster, and Cotton Conner. His brothers and sisters-in-law Armon and Jane Humphrey, Glendon “Pete” and Gale Humphrey of Minco. His numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends will miss his kind smile and helping hands. We know that everyone goes when it’s their time but we have a strong suspicion that Heaven needed a good mechanic.
