Obituary for Gellenbeck Paul Dean

Paul Dean Gellenbeck
February 5, 1955 - August 17, 2018

Paul Dean Gellenbeck, 63, of Tuttle, OK, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday,
August 17, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. With the support of family and friends and his hope in God, Paul
valiantly fought cancer to the very moment he peacefully finished his journey.
Paul was born in Jefferson City, MO on February 5, 1955 to Harry and Vera Gellenbeck. At a
very young age Paul’s family relocated to Bethany, OK where Paul grew up. Paul and his
former wife, Jenell Robertson, had three children, David, Christi and Robert. Joining the
Bethany Police Department in 1976 and transitioning to the Warr Acres Police Department in
1980, Paul was a long time law enforcement officer. Though he made his last daunting call as a
police officer to the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, Paul was medically
retired in 2002. He also co-owned Metro Wrecker for several years. In 2005, Paul met the love
of his life, Rita, and while raising daughters Emily and Lorren were blessed with Justin who
completed their family. In 2007 Paul’s dream of country life came true after falling in love with
their current piece of land in Tuttle. Growing up in the Church of God, Paul has always revered
his Creator, but became dedicated to his testimony for the last ten years after he felt God gave
him a second chance. With his deep connection to Rita, a strong love for his six kids and a
passion for life itself, Paul took advantage of every opportunity to bring others hope through his
story of overcoming so much. He never met a stranger and his warm light-hearted outlook was
a God-given gift he used for those around him. Today Paul is fully healthy and celebrating with
Jesus and the angels.
Paul is survived by his wife, Rita, his children, David and Amanda Gellenbeck of Blanchard, OK;
Christi and Brian Dawson of Piedmont, OK; Robert and Brittany Gellenbeck of Crescent, OK;
Emily Johnston of Newcastle, OK; Lorren Johnston and Justin Gellenbeck, both of Tuttle, OK;
and his seven grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Christian, Malachi, Jonathan, Harley, and Hagen.
He is also survived by his siblings, Mark and Liz Gellenbeck of Guthrie, OK; Steve and Margie
Gellenbeck of Guthrie, OK; Phillip and Rosie Gellenbeck of Guthrie, OK; Jeannine and Lonnie
Miles of Guthrie, OK; Dan and Angela Gellenbeck of Gravel Switch, KY; and Carla and Bill
Delano of Oklahoma City, OK. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Vera
Gellenbeck; his brother, John David Gellenbeck and his precious granddaughter, Bryanne
Gellenbeck.
McNeil’s Funeral Service in Mustang, OK will host a public viewing from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on
Monday, August 20, 2018. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Mustang on
