Obituary for Frank Norris Gammill

Frank Norris Gammill was born November 5, 1936 in Onia, Arkansas. He passed from this life to the presence of Jesus on January 13, 2019. He was preceded in death by parents Olen & Edith Gammill of Last Chance, OK; his wife, Loretta Gammill of Norman, OK; a brother Eugene Gammill of New Nata, AR; sister Vergie Richardson of Okemah, OK and sister Maye (Moore) Hill of Kansas City, KS. He is survived by two brothers: John F. Gammill of Acworth, GA and Ralph Gammill of Blackwell, OK. He also is survived by his three children Kelley (Choctaw, OK), Kim Sterrett (Spring Hill, KS) and Stacy Cole (Yukon, OK); daughter-in-law, Robin Gammill (Choctaw, OK) and son-in-law, Paul Sterrett (Spring Hill, KS); by six grandchildren-Carson, Cassidy, Kacie, Andrew, Alisa and Anna; and by five great-grandchildren-Drew, Quinn, Daniel, Liam and Adrianna. Also survived by two yet-to-arrive great-grandchildren due in 2019.
Frank served our country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked in civil service at IRS and Tinker Air Force Base for twenty years. He retired from the General Motors Plant in OKC after over 21 years of service. His hobbies included coin collecting, stamp collecting, woodworking and collecting news clippings and information about a variety of subjects. He put some of these collections in book form: “This I Remember”, “The Book of Nothing” and “So you think that is funny”. He also was a huge fan of OU sports and quickly became a big fan of the OKC Thunder basketball team.
He started his relationship with Jesus Christ when he was 11 years old at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Onia, Arkansas. He was baptized in Roasting Ear Creek. In 1965 he was ordained as a deacon at First Missionary Baptist Church, Midwest City, OK. He served in that capacity there and at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Norman, OK and Southgate Baptist Church, Moore, OK. He also served in a variety of church positions through the years but his favorite was serving and working with the Special Education Ministry at Southgate Baptist Church.
He has left a legacy of love and service to his family, friends and all the divine “appointments” he kept by helping strangers and the needy. He will be missed greatly but we are comforted to know he no longer suffering and he has been reunited with all his loved ones in heaven.
