Donald (Don) Lee Schmidt was born 6-22-29 in Beaver Dam, WI to Elmer & Evelyn Schmidt. He married Jean Elizabeth (Storm) Schmidt 10-1-55 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, WI.
Children: Sandra Schmidt Hester and husband Robert Hester; Stephen Schmidt and wife Nanci Schmidt; Scott Schmidt and wife Myra Schmidt.
Grandchildren: Rachael Hester Valdez and husband AJ; Matthew Hester; Ryan Schmidt and wife Jessica; Cody Schmidt and wife Becca; Brandi Schmidt Mahanti and husband Asberg; Kristin Schmidt Morales and husband Michael; Heidi Acker; Hillary Giuffre and husband Michael.
Great Grandchildren: Madison, Sydney Jean, Brianna, Alexis, Abigail, Annalee, Nikolai, Athalia, Belle, Ariella, Justine, Lincoln. Sister; Elizabeth Krause; brother; Dale Schmidt; Daughter-in-law: Carolyn Hudson and husband Jim. Many beloved Nieces and Nephews. Proceeded in Death: Wife: Jean Schmidt; Parents: Elmer & Evelyn Schmidt; brother; Gerald Schmidt, sister; Sandra Schmidt, brother-in-law Donald (Rocky) Storm, brother-in-law Harman Krause, brother-in-law Lawrence Schultz, sister-in-law Cleo (Storm) Schultz; father & mother-in-law George & Otensia Storm. Don’s life and love was devoted to his wife and family and church. He was married 60 years to his beautiful, loving wife Jean. Don was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. He was enlisted in the United States Coast Guard for 30 years, where he was stationed in Traverse City, MI; San Francisco, CA; Elizabeth City, NC; Oahu, HI; Kodiak, AK; Oklahoma City, OK. Don was recognized and honored as Coast Guardsmen of the year in 1962. He also received numerous medals and awards including the National Defense Medal, Letter of Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal and others. He graduated from OCCC & UCO with a degree in Journalism, where he worked for the Journal Record at Tinker Take Off for 15 years. He was also Director of Media Relations for Aerospace America and for 19 years he was a member of the Gridiron Club, President for 1 year.
