Obituary for Barbara Ann Crookshank

Barbara Ann Dean Crookshank was born on February 9, 1938 in Wilzetta, OK. She went to be with the Lord July 21, 2019. Preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth (Helms) Dean, daughter Carolyn Sue Reed, first husband Earl S. Reed, Jr, her sisters, Betty Murphey, Bobbie Payne, Carolyn Dean; step children, Ted Crookshank and Teresa Crookshank. Barbara had 30 years of service with Southwestern Bell Telephone, starting as a switchboard operator and retiring in 1990 as an Instructor for the business office. During her Bell Telephone career she also served as Secretary Treasurer for the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Union as well as being a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers. After retirement, Barbara was a substitute in the Mustang Schools Cafeteria, was a member and officer of OHCE, member and various officer duties of Kings of the Road Roamers, and a member of the Red Hatters. She loved to quilt, cook and travel. She enjoyed many trips to various locations in Mexico, Las Vegas, multiple cruises and all over the US and Canada with the Kings of the Road Roamers. And was maybe most known for her homemade hot yeast rolls; no one ever left her table hungry. Barbara is survived by: her husband, Robert of 45 years of the home; sisters, Patty Carson of Broken Arrow, OK, and Regena Freeman of Edmond, OK; daughter, Lee Anna and Ron (spouse) Sedgwick of Owasso, OK; Robert’s daughter, Karen and Terry (spouse) Green of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Kristie Otey of Moore, OK, Terie and Eric (spouse) Otey of Flatrock, IL, Garrett Green of Guthrie, OK, Maranda Sedgwick of Tulsa, OK and Hannah Sedgwick of Owasso, OK; great-grandchildren, Ashley Stephans of Colorado Springs, CO, Andrew Stephans of Moore, OK, Dawson Otey of Moore, OK, Tanner Otey of Flatrock, IL, Cale Otey of Flatrock, IL and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends 1:00-5:00pm, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at McNeil’s Funeral Home, 525 W. Highway 152, Mustang. Funeral Service will be 10:00am, Friday, July 26, 2019 at McNeil’s Funeral Home followed by Interment Service 12:00n at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 N Kelley, Oklahoma City, OK.
