Obituary for Wayne Wallace

Wayne Wallace was born to James Blaine and Hilda Wallace on October 26, 1946 in Oklahoma City, where he grew up with his sister Wanda. He attended Cleveland Elementary and Taft Junior High before graduating from Northwest Classen in 1964, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Tomberlin. Shortly after marrying, Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years to include one year in Vietnam as a medic. After returning from Vietnam, Wayne began a 33-year career at OG&E in Oklahoma City, retiring in 2001. He earned a Bachelor’s in Human Resources Management from Southern Nazarene University and a Master’s in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. Wayne returned to SNU as an instructor where he taught Adult Studies for 11 years before retiring in 2012. He loved to write stories, of which several were published. Wayne enjoyed being with his family. He was a great husband, father, papa, uncle and friend. Wayne enjoyed playing golf but his favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren. He often took them on vacations or drove them to school, movies and various other events. He took great pride in watching and encouraging his grandchildren participate in their many activities. He had many friends throughout his life and he was a member of Church of the Servant. He was a huge fan of the OU Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wayne is survived by his wife, Sharon of 51 years and her mother Mollie Lovelace, his son Michael and wife Dana of Mustang, his daughter Michelle Knight and her husband Jeff of Piedmont, three grandchildren, Blake Wallace, Jeffrey Knight and Jayden Knight and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Blaine Michael Wallace. Wayne is going to be missed tremendously and loved forever. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dale K.
