Obituary for Randy Joe Begley

Randy Joe Begley, age 69, passed away May 13, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born to Sylvia Simar and James Begley in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the second of six children, Philip, Ricky, Danny, Jan, & Don. His parents moved to Orange, Texas in 1966 and instead of finishing High School, Randy enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1967. He attended boot camp at Fort Bliss, Texas and was then stationed in Alaska. While in the Army, he specialized in working on radar equipment and also completed his GED. Randy was honorably discharged from the Army in August of 1970. Randy enrolled in Lamar University and completed his associates degree in Business Data Processing, December of 1971.
In September of 1970, he met Mary Camp, a friend of his sister Jan, and they were married October 15, 1971 in Mary’s family home in Orange. In 1972 Randy took a job as an electrician in Broomfield, Colorado. In 1979 Randy and Mary moved to Yukon, Oklahoma where he went on to work as a computer technician for various companies over the next 20 years. Randy retired in 2000 after being diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis.
In 1982, Randy and Mary became proud parents of their daughter, Carey and in March 2002, a grandson was born, Zane Mykel Renchen known to Randy as Bubba. Randy spent time during summer break teaching his grandson about guns & safety among other things. He continued collecting guns, tinker with computers and any type of electronics, and was also interested in woodworking. He was also there to lend a hand. Randy & Mary went on several Caribbean cruises which he really looked forward to and enjoyed so much. One of his favorite places he traveled to was Grand Cayman.
Randy is a charter member of Stable Rock Baptist Church of Yukon, Oklahoma. He served faithfully as treasurer for the last several years and also operated the sound and video equipment for the church. He also loved to people watch and was a stranger to no one. He was also so proud of his grandson and his dedication to the Mustang High School JROTC.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Philip, Don, and Ricky, and his sister Jan. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Carey and her husband Wes, and their son Zane, and his last living brother Danny of Washington State and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Stable Rock Baptist Church, Yukon, OK.
