Obituary for Nona Jo Kintsel

Nona Jo Kintsel passed into eternity on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017. She was a long-time resident of Drumright, OK, most recently residing in Mission, TX with loving family members as her caregivers.
Nona was born at home near Comanche, TX on January 31, 1928 to Florence Nadine (McGalliard) Rogers and Hollis R. Rogers who both preceded her in death. She lived in Texas, Arizona and Washington state before moving to California where she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Lloyd Kintsel in Taft, CA, on May 13, 1950. They had been married over 63 years when he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2013. To this union were born three children, Kenneth Lloyd Kintsel Jr. (Glynis), Mary Kathleen Porter, all of Mission, TX and Rebecca Marie Ponder (Rick) of Shawnee, OK.
Nona was a wonderful Christian woman and a devoted and greatly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to those fortunate enough to have been a part of her life. Besides her beloved children, she is also survived by her sister, Mary Collins (Ralph) of Bakersfield, CA and brother Norman Duke (Ann) of Kearney, MO, brother-in-law Burton Kintsel (Lee) of Altadena, CA and grandchildren Joy Porter of Ft. Smith, AR, Kristen Batten (Andy) of Spring, TX, Miriam Porter of Frisco, TX, Joel Kintsel (Nancy) of Oklahoma City, Sarah Albertson (Jayson) of Melissa, TX, Hannah Hammock (Derek) of Katy, TX, Esther Pickard (Jason), Deborah Kintsel and Joshua Kintsel (Jenny) all of Edmond, Adrienne Morgan (Brandon) of Piedmont, Daniel Ponder, of Oklahoma City, Tavi Brzozowski (Michael) of Newalla and Eliya Bolgrin (Corey) of Shawnee, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nona was a faithful prayer warrior and Bible teacher, an amazing cook, seamstress, gardener and an accomplished artist as well. Her home and kitchen were always open for guests and if you visited once, you were considered family and would be welcome back anytime. She and Lloyd spent their retirement years volunteering with the Oklahoma Baptist Builders and made many special friends while using their skills and abilities to help further the cause of missions here in Oklahoma as well as several other states.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, Oct. 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at McNeil’s Funeral Home, 525 West Highway 152 in Mustang, OK and a memorial service on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Putnam City Baptist Church, 11401 N. Rockwell Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73162 officiated by Roger White, long-time family friend and pastor of New Pathways Baptist Church in Cushing, OK. Burial will follow at Frisco Cemetery, 14200 W.
