Obituary for Gerald Wayne Mooney

Gerald Wayne (Jerry) Mooney, age 77, died suddenly at his home in Del City on Friday, November 24, 2017. He was born December 21, 1939 in Oklahoma City to James and Elizabeth (Petty) Mooney. He grew up in the Mustang/Yukon communities and was a 1958 graduate of Mustang High School. He proudly served in the US Navy and worked 18 years as a draftsman for Robertson Steel Co. and then worked 18 years for the Oklahoma Highway Department retiring in 2007. He loved to fish, work in his shop and travel, both in his RV and cruising. He also loved to take trips on his motorcycle. He was a longtime member of the Midwest City Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a member of Sunny Lane Southern Baptist Church. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jimmy. Survivors include his wife Jacqueline(Jacque) of the home, three sons Darrin Russel Mechling and wife Carmela of Grapevine, TX, Jason Craig Mechling and wife Mary Santiago of Del City, OK and James W. Mooney and wife Dayna of Yukon. Also by twelve grand children, one brother Donald Mooney and wife Fran of Oklahoma City and one sister Kathie Ivie of Mustang. Services will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 27, 2017 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Funeral Service, Mustang, OK with interment following in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma.
