Obituary for Edna Naomi (Tinsley) Hixon

Edna Naomi (Tinsley) Hixon, age 88, died Monday, March 13, 2017. She was born February 24, 1929 in Hinton, OK to William Henry and Sally Pearl (Wright) Tinsley. She attended Hydro schools. She married Verbal Charles Hixon on August 14, 1952. She and her husband Verbel moved about during his US Army career before settling down in Mustang, OK in 1959. She worked for Tri-Color Photos in Oklahoma City and in the cafeteria at Lakehoma Elementary. Edna was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Mustang as well as the Rainbow Group at church. She loved to sew, quilt and was an avid bowler. She was preceded in death by her husband Verbel Charles Sr. (1991), her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Edna is survived by one daughter; Janetta Hixon, three sons; Verbal Charles Jr. and wife Janet, Ralph and wife Shirley and Ernest and wife Hazel. Also by seven grandchildren; Jennifer Heavin, Zachary Hixon, Aaron Bell, Leslie Shelton, Ernest Jr., Michael and Brent, four great-grandchildren; Cade Heavin, Case Heavin, Gage Hixon and Ridge Hixon, one brother Gideon Tinsley and wife VerdaLee, one sister; Opal Roger, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm Friday, March 17, 2017 at McNeil’s Funeral Service with interment to follow at Sunnylane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma.
