Obituary for Dale Hugh Eason

Dale Hugh Eason, age 74, left his earthly body Wednesday, April 12, 2017. He was born January 18, 1943, in Independence, KS, to Paul and Viola (Coffman) Eason. He was a graduate of Gridley High School in Gridley, CA. Dale was blessed with a natural talent for music. Singing with a beautiful, tenor voice, he loved gospel music. He was also a self-taught musician, playing many instruments by ear, including the piano, which always awed those who heard him play.

Dale was an ordained minister with the Church of God and later the Assemblies of God Fellowship. He served as an evangelist, a Church of God district youth director and planted five churches across several states. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Bible Studies, a Master of Divinity degree and an additional bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

While pastoring, Dale worked at other occupations, including supervising installation of convertible tops for Fisher Body at General Motors. He later proudly served in the United States Navy.

Dale loved fast cars and engines always demanding perfection of himself and his equipment. He wore a big smile once his mission was accomplished. Wherever Dale was, life was never dull. Pastoring and building churches was his first love, though, he always felt he had one more church to build.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Charla (Felty) Eason; sons Gordon Eason and wife Lynn, Monty Chitty and Bryan Wayne; daughters Gayle Wampler and husband William, Melissa Smith and husband, Wyatt; seven grandchildren and three great children; brothers Jim and wife Patricia, Kenneth and wife Loretta; sisters Myrtle Hall and husband Gordon, and Millie Parker.

Dale Hugh Eason was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Viola, and his sister Louise Huston.
